Datasets
The Hans Ertel Centre for Weahter Reseach (HErZ) provides meteorological observational datasets from various measurement campaigns to the research community. The datasets are published under the licenses CC-BY-4.0 and CC-BY-NC-4.0 and can be used freely.
Data access: All datasets published to date are avaiable via the Integrated Climate Data Center.
Measurement campaigns as part of HErZ:
- Pre-campaigns for FESSTVaL 2019/2020: Measurements in Hamburg and Lindenberg
- FESSTVaL 2021: Measurements in Lindenberg to investigate sub-mesoscale variability
- VITAL I 2024: Continuing research with focus on new measurement methods
- VITAL II 2026 (planned): Futher development of concepts and studies on the formation and spread of cold pools
Campaign objectives:
The measurement campaigns serve to develop and validate new measuremet methods and are intended to close the gap between ground-based measurements and satellite observations. A particular focus is on the formation and propagation of cold pools, the atmospheric boundary layer and wind gusts.
