A world of extremes: How do we turn the climate crisis into opportunities?
News from Sep 30, 2025
What could be the positive side effects of necessary and sometimes daunting mitigation and adaptation measures? For the second time, Iuliia Polkova (HErZ, DWD), Marlene Klockmann (OceanWeather, Uni Hamburg) and Stefanie Bauditz (DWD) discussed this topic with school children in a workshop titled “A world of extremes - how do we turn the climate crisis into opportunities?”
This two-hour workshop was offered twice as part of the Wetter.Wasser.Waterkant 2025 Fall program for public schools in Hamburg. The students learned about climate change and extreme events, and discussed measures for mitigation and adaptation, as well as the opportunities that could arise from these measures. After a bit of encouragement, interesting discussions took place and provided ample food for thought.
