The kick-off meeting of HErZ-IV took place at the DWD headquarters in Offenbach from 19-21 February 2024. About 70 scientists from all projects and participating institutions took part in this meeting to get to know the HErZ community, the new projects, and the planned activities. The two speakers, Corinna Hoose and Anna Possner presented the joint structure and activities for the period 2023 – 2027. The project leaders presented their project and team in a plenary session that was open to all DWD colleagues. During the poster session, the early career scientists presented their first results, or planned research to the participants. The “Programmrat” (scientific advisory board of HErZ) and the “fachliche Ansprechpersonen” (contact persons at DWD and experts in HErZ-related topics) contributed to the many lively discussions and provided insightful feedback and information to the HErZ community.
